Q and A

Question

What are D100 tablets and isoniazid used for?

What are pink big tablets marked D100 and Winthrop Isoniazid 300 mg used for?

Answer

Hi

Isoniazid is often used as a protective treatment to reduce the risk of TB.

D100 might be a medicine called doxycycline, which is a drug used to treatment many different things.

Please ask your doctor or pharmacist to talk about this. These people will help you understand your medicine and what it is being used for.

    Hi Zamakho,

Please speak to your doctor about your treatment. Winthrop isoniazid is often used as a protective treatment to reduce the risk of TB.

But treating TB and HIV can be complex. And during pregnancy your doctor is best placed to advise you about your treatment.

    Hi Gugu,

Please can you tell us why you’ve asked this question. Is it because of a stock out of your ARVs? Or maybe you’re having side effects that are difficult to manage.

Can I ask if you’re also taking TB treatment as you’ve posted this comment on a Q&A about isoniazid.

Please let us know more about your comment. Do you have access to your viral load and CD4 count? If so, do let us know what they are.

    Hi Gift,

If your boyfriend is HIV positive and he’s taking Tribuss, then that’s fine. Tribuss is a safe and effective treatment for HIV.

Tribuss can reduce HIV viral load to undetectable levels. And once you are undetectable, HIV cannot be transmitted because Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U).

If a person who is HIV positive has an undetectable viral load the risk of HIV to their partner is zero. Even if they don’t use condoms.

    Please see U=U here.

    Hi Sabelo,

Please see this question with pics of Tribuss. The pill has M171 on one side and D100 on the other.

Tribuss is a generic version of Atripla.

So if you were using m171 then you can use d100 that can’t give you problems

    Hi,

Winthrop is usually connected to a person CD4 count. Depending on where you live if your CD4 count is less than 350 then you’ll be advised to continue to use it. You doctor should be able to tell you how long you need to be on it for.
