Can Tribuss be given to someone with TB and pneumonia?
Answer
Hi,
Its is difficult to answer your question without knowing if and which treatments your are on for TB and pneumonia.
Tribuss is a generic version of Atripla.
The only potential interaction is between common TB meds and your ART is between rifampicin and efavirenz, one of the meds in Tribuss. This might decrease the levels of efavirenz.
Please talk to your clinic or doctor about this. They might just want to monitor you, or change the dose of efavirenz. Again it is important to check for interactions with your specific medications.
I m sorry I need to know the names of your pneumonia meds to comment. Mild pneumonia can be treated with a variety of antibiotics which is why i can’t give you any more specific information. Generally there are not a lot of interactions between Tribuss and antibiotics but it is important to check.
You can use this really useful online drug interaction tool to do this.
