I take my ARVs at 8am and 8pm. Can i change it to 10am and 10pm?
Answer
Hi,
This is not a problem as long as you consistently take them at the new time. Jumping back and forth mean you have a risk of developing resistance. This would mean your meds would stop working well.
People do change the time they take their meds for all sorts of reasons though. Again this is ok as long as you keep taking regularly at the new time.
The only concern about switching from evening to morning is if your combination include the drug efavirenz. Efavirenz needs to be taken 1-2 hours before you sleep, so you reduce side effects.
And I want to know that can I go to the gym. Can I take Viagra too ? Thank you for replying
Hi Win,
Yes. This is what I mean.
So you mean changing the time for 2 and half hour is not problem, right ?
Hi Win,
Its fine to drink when taking ARVs. The important thing is that a persons drinking does not interfere with them taking their meds. And that, like for everyone it isn’t excessive.
ARVs don’t interact with smoking. However, smoking seriously damages your health. The choice is up to you.
Hi Win,
Changing taking your meds from 9.30pm to 12am is fine. What’s important is that you take them and at a time that works for you.
Can I change taking my meds from 9.30pm to 12am? I’m taking Atripla. I’ve been on it a month.
Hi Esther,
For me to be able to answer this question, I need to know what ARVs you are taking. Also, what is the exact problem?
Why are my ARVs affecting my legs?
Hi Esther,
As your CD4 is 900, may I ask why you are taking septrin?
Septrin is prescribed as prophylaxis against PCP [a type of pneumonia] when someone has a CD4 count of below 200 cells, and against toxoplasmosis [ a type of brain infection] someone is at risk of developing with a CD4 count of less than 100 cells.
Studies have shown that once a person’s CD4 count increases to above 200 cells when on treatment, then they can discontinue the prophylaxis. That is, unless they have previously had PCP. Have you ever had PCP?
my cd4 count was 900 why doctor stating giving me arvs? can i change my septrin time?
