Can I take multivitamins and minerals with ARVs?

Hi

Multivitamins are minerals are only really needed if you have a deficiency or if you don;t have a balanced and nutritious diet.

So long as you use recommend dose they will not do any harm.

The only ARVs that interact with multivitamins are integrate inhibitors. It this case you just need to separate dosing of the multivitamins and ARVs by at least four hours

    Hi Clementine, you do not say which herbs or supplements you want to use. In general, unless the interaction is know to be safe, it is recommended to not use herbs and supplements.

    As Simon says above on this Q&A, The only ARVs that interact with multivitamins are integrate inhibitors. The three ARVs you mention are not integrase inhibitors.

    So long as you use recommend dose multivitamins will not do any harm.

    It’s the Tribuss that’s controlling your HIV, not the novavit, which is a multivitamin. Therefore, as long as you continue to take the Tribuss your HIV will be under control.

    Hi, I was using tribuss and novavit plus. Now because of COVID-19 stay home, l went to another doctor to send prescription for delivery. Thou my cd4 count increased to 569 and viral load is less than <20%. This doctor gave me only tribuss. What is going to happen if I don't have novavit plus?

    There is no potential drug interaction between your HIV meds and the multivitamins in novavit plus. But it’s a good idea to tell your doctor if you’re taking any herbs or supplements along with your HIV meds.

    Yes this is Ok. However, its probably a good idea to take them at different times.
