My CD4 T-cell count is 42 and my viral load is 1600. Am I infectious to my partner?

Hello,

The best way to reduce the risk of transmission is to be on HIV meds and get your viral load to undetectable levels.  Although your viral load isn’t that high it could be classed as detectable.

Do you mind me asking if you are on HIV meds?

A CD4 count of 42 is low – and puts you at risk of lots of infections. Has your doctor also prescribed you antibiotics?

Because your CD4 count is so low, there is a chance that the symptoms might be another complication.

You are still likely to get a very good response to treatment , but your doctor need to know everything that happens.
