Question

Will ARVs interfere with me taking the pill?

Do ARVs affect the efficiency of birth control pills?

Answer

Thanks for getting in touch.

Please see here for info about ARVs and contraception.

If you could tell me what ARVs you are taking as well as which pill, I’ll be able to tell you if there will be any interaction.

Hello Lulu and thanks for getting in touch.

I cannot answer your question without more information about the ARVs you are taking.

I can tell you however that there are many forms of contraceptive pill one with progesterone and one combining progesterone and oestrogen.

Please discuss this with your doctor as there might be specific restrictions from your medical history and interactions with other medication you might be taking including ARVs that might make on type of contraception pill more appropriate than the other.

You can also check for specific interactions here:
