Question

Why am I feeling dizzy?

I was diagnosed with HIV in 2016, my CD4 was 125. I started treatment straight away. Its now been 6 months. I’m having problems with dizziness.

Answer

Thanks for getting in touch.

Other than feeling dizzy, how are you doing? Has your CD4 gone up? How is your viral load?

When you first started meds, did you have any side effects? If you did what were they?

The dizziness that you’re experiencing how, may be due to your meds. However, dizziness is called by all sorts of things. Therefore, if this is effecting your daily life, please see a doctor.

Hello Andrew and thanks for getting in touch.

An undetectable viral load is a viral load of under 50 copies.
With a viral load of under 200 copies/ml you cannot pass on HIV to your sexual partners.

Any viral load over that shows you have enough virus in your body to target your immune system and cause other complications due to inflammation over time.

What happens if your viral load is 10 000

Hi Bahati, please talk to your doctor about feeling dizzy. Please explain how often this happens, and how difficult it is. Also if there is a pattern for when you feel dizzy. It doesn’t sound like a side effect if the same meds have been fine for so long.

    Hi Keamogetse,

Can I ask why you stopped taking treatment. Was it because of side effects, or maybe there was a stock out. Please let us know. And if you have access to your viral load and CD4 results, please tell us those too.

However as Lisa says, dizziness is caused by all sorts of things. Therefore, if this is affecting your daily life, please see a doctor.
