    Hi Nomsa,

Though ARVs need to be taken daily, missing a day won’t be an issue.

    Hi Nosipho,

I’m sorry to hear about the electricity problem. Unexpected things like this can make us forget whether we’ve taken the ARVs or not.

Missing just one dose occasionally is likely to be fine. Here is a link to tips about taking your meds on time.

You can also talk to your doctor or nurse about how long you’re going to breastfeed your baby. They can give you the best advice on this.

    Hi Nhanha,

Being late or missing one dose during pregnancy will be fine. How is everything going? What HIV meds are you taking and how long have you been on treatment?

    Please let us know.

I take my meds at 21:00pm and I fell asleep and woke up at 4am and I took my meds, will it infect the baby?

    Hi Angela,

Many congratulations on having a new baby.

However, please talk to your doctor about this. Your doctor and clinic are best placed to support and advise you on your treatment, and your baby’s treatment.

However, please see the guide to HIV pregnancy and women’s health. There’s a lots of info in this, including for after your baby is born.

    Hi Ashia,

Giving your baby her medication 6hrs late isn’t going to increase her chances of being positive. If, however you can try and remember to give her medication at the right time that would help.

I gave my infant The nevirapine syrup 6hours late, and I’m breastfeeding my viral load is undetectable and I take my ARV’s daily.does that mean my baby is positive
