Question

I tested a few days short of 3 months….

I have been tested by Tri dot test at 12.5 weeks post exposure. Results came negative. I am worried about if 12.5 weeks (87days)is sufficient for the Tri dot test. or do I need to retest as I tested 4 days earlier to 3 month mark.

I got my results within 6 hours. The sample was sent to a lab. so I hope the anitbodies stay alive till my sample was tested.

One more question is does spirit used as disinfectant kill the HIV virus instantly.

Help is highly appreciated.

Answer

The test is still very accurate a few days either side of three months, and this will not make a difference to your results. Most people who have been infected will actually will show an HIV-positive result by 2 months.

Diluted disinfectant on spilled blood will inactivate HIV, but the virus is also inactivated by exposure to air, and is likely to be non-infectious within a few minutes outside the body.

Taking an HIV test can be stressful, this can be a reason why you’re feeling depressed.

The Tri-Dot test is a rapid HIV antibody test that is very accurate and sensitive at detecting HIV infection. Getting a negative result means that you are HIV-negative.

The window period for an antigen/antibody test is four weeks. At this time 95% of infections will be detected.

Then there is a three month window period (90 days) for a confirming test that will detect 99.9% of infections.

I have a tri dot test after 94 days of my exposure and it was non reactive, and I also have a antigen test and it was also non reactive. Is this window period is correct or do I have to retest again. I’m depressed, can’t do anything.

I have a swollen lymph node after 3 months and I had a tri dot test. It came negative for HCV,HBsAg,HIV,VDRL. Am I infected with HIV?

Yes, 4-5 seconds of oral sex would not have put you at risk of catching HIV.

The Tri-dot test after 4 months confirmed that you were HIV-negative when you took the test.

A guy took my penis in his mouth. As soon as I realised, i jumped back. I was drunk at that time. My penis was in contact with his mouth for 4 to 5 seconds. After 4 months from this exposure, I went for Tri-Dot test and the result is negative. Am I safe. Please reply.
