Is PEP effective after 72hrs of exposure?

I’ve read that you need to take PEP within 72hrs of a possible risk, is this true?

PEP needs to be taken within max 72hrs of a possible exposure as the following explains: https://i-base.info/qa/5255 It’s not recommended to take PEP after this time.
