Can my newborn be given Phipp’s?

My newborn is 2 weeks old. My granny is giving him Phipp’s as he is having a tummy problem. Can I stop it? He is on formula. I don’t breastfeed at all. Help me please.

Hi, how are you? Congratulations on your newborn. This must be an exciting time for you.
It is safe to stop. Have you spoken to a doctor about giving your baby Phipp’s? For children under 3 it is recommended you speak with a doctor before giving the medication.
Is your baby taking any anti-virals? As Phipp’s effects the acid in the stomach it can affect how the anti-viral is absorbed and how it works and this would need to be a discussion with your doctor.
