Q and A

Question

Is Atroiza safe in children?

Can Atroiza be used for kids who are HIV positive?

Answer

Hi, how are you?

Atroiza is a generic version of Atripla. It contains efavirenz, tenofovir DF, and emtricitabine (FTC). How old is your child?

In children 10 and older this combination is safe. The dose of efavirenz in Atroiza is 600 mg. Which is suggested as a special recommendation, not first-line. A combination with 400 mg is an optional first-line.

In children under 10 this combination is not recommended. All recommendations are from WHO 2021 guidelines.

Josh.
