Q and A

Question

Will using HIV ARVs make me HIV positive?

Hey, if a person that is HIV negative overdoses a months supply of ART, can that make them HIV positive or it will just damage the insides?

Answer

Hi, how are you?

HIV medication can be used to prevent and manage HIV infection. In no way can it cause someone to become HIV positive.

A months supply in one dose will have serious complications inc. death. Is there a reason you are thinking about this? HIV medication should only be used by the person it is prescribed and by the instructions of the doctor.

Side effects of a ART overdose can have toxic effects on many of the internal organs inc. kidney and liver failure.
