Question
I had protected sex with someone who had a piercing – could I be HIV positive?
20 May 2010. Related: All topics, HIV testing, HIV transmission.
A girl I slept with recently had a body piercing. Previously a case was reported of one customer contracting HIV from the shop that she used to get her piercing. Naturally, everyone who received a piercing from the place was called back for HIV tests. She had a rapid oral test I think, 4 months after the piercing which came back negative.
I have never had unprotected sex. I only had sex with her twice, both times using a condom, and I preformed oral sex on her. Should I stop worrying? I have no symptoms/illnesses but ever since a scare I had over cancer I have been a nervous wreck with anything concerning illness. I’m just looking for piece of mind. Thanks.
Answer
Thank you for your question.
If you use a condom every time you had sex then you will not catch HIV this way. If this lady had a negative HIV test then she does not have HIV and cannot infect you anyway. Please stop worrying.
