Q and A

Question

Should I worry about my undetectable viral load now being 80?

I was undetectable viral load for several years on hiv treatment but now last result found 80 copies and cd4 is 750 it hasnt gone down

Is it something to worry about ?

Answer

Hi there

Please do not worry about your latest result.

As you are normally undetectable, this is likely to just be a blip or a test error. In the UK, this would be checked by having another viral load test now.

If you have been missing meds recently though, then being more careful now should get you back undetectable. This includes taking meds with food if this is recommended for your meds.

Viral load that is less than 200 still means that you are not infectious to sexual partners.
