What is the difference between PrEP and PEP?

Hi there, please can you help me understand when one needs to take either (1) PrEP or (2) PEP ?
Answer
Hi
PrEP includes ‘Pre’ exposure – ie taking prevention meds before you have sex (as well as afterwards). This is usually one pill taken as a daily treatment.
PEP is ‘Post’ exposure – ie taking prevention meds just after exposure. This is usually a course to three meds only taken daily for one month.
Anyone who uses PEP should talk to their doctor about PrEP.

Hi Sicelo, PrEP can be taken as long as you want. PrEP is used to protect against potential exposure to HIV. If you feel that you are at risk of becoming HIV positive, you can take PrEP for as long as you want. https://i-base.info/guides/prep
PrEP is taken daily as you say for how long (duration or how many days
