Q and A

Question

Is is okay to take meds at 6.40 am without eating?

Good morning I’m now taking my ARVS in the morning because this is what my clinic said. I take them at 06:40 daily. Is this okay because I take them without eating? I normally eat around 9:00 am.

Answer

Hi there

Thanks – without knowing which meds you are taking, I can’t comment.

If your clinic said to take them in the morning, this is probably so that you stay awake during the day and sleep better at night. This is recommended for a combination of tenofovir/lamivudine/dolutegravir, for example.

If this is your combination, then you don’t need to take these meds with food.

Unless your clinic said you need to take them with food, you are doing everything right.

Hi Tash, your treatment is not a recommended first line combination. Have you ever been on any HIV medication before? In most cases people start with a dolutegravir based regimen, namely TLD: https://i-base.info/guides/14970 Have you spoken with your doctor about any other combinations that may be available to you?

How long have you been experiencing this side effects? Did they start the same time as starting treatment or did you notice them at a different time?

Hi there. What do you think of mylan’s lamuvudine nevirapine zidovudine combination. It’s been 2 months. Still feel pain in the head and back/spine. Sometimes in the thigh and hip bones. Is there any more superior arv compared to this? Thanks
