I always forget to take my medication…

I’m on ART. The thing is I always forget to take my medication on time, can I default? I’m worried.

Is there a reason you forget to take your medication on time? and how late are you with taking your medication? If you remember within an hour of the time you usually take your medication, it will not have any effect on your health.
The longer you are from the regular time of your medication, the more risk there is of developing resistance to your treatment. This is because there is time for HIV to mutate and become resistant to the treatment if you are not taking it regularly enough. Have you had a recent viral load test to check if your medication is still working?
Some people find it useful to build in taking ART into their routines e.g., getting the tablet ready when brushing teeth. Or setting an alarm on your phone that reminds you of when to take it each day. Have you tried anything like this to help?
