Q and A

Question

I missed 2 days of medication.

I have been undetectable for 14 years and now I was recently away for work and forgot my medication – I missed two doses of my Delstrigo medication. I am so worried about drug resistance, and it is affecting my mental health. I feel I have I undone all the good work over the years. I have my next bloods in February. Terrified I will not be undetectable. Should I be worried? I don’t really want to tell my clinic what has happened. What are the chances I will no longer be undetectable?

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

As you have been undetectable for so long, missing 2 days of your treatment is not going to risk you no longer being undetectable.

As you missed these doses while your viral load was already suppressed, 2 days is not long enough for your viral load to rebound. In most cases this takes at least a week.

All the work you have done over the years have not been lost. If you are continuing to be anxious are you able to access a viral load test sooner? As it is affecting your mental health, seeing that you have not lost your undetectable status will be really helpful.

Josh.
