Q and A

Question

I have a small rash on my feet. Is this caused by PEP?

Hi I had unprotected sex 6 days ago and started PEP after 60 hours. After the 4th day of PEP, I found small rashes on my feet. Is it a side effect of PEP?

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

This is unlikely to be a side effect of PEP. Have you noticed anything else, e.g. itching, bumps, dryness?

Have you noticed if anything makes this rash better or worse, e.g. have you tried using an emollient?

If the rash persists or it becomes uncomfortable you will need to speak with your doctor?

Hi Mak, while on PEP seroconversion is delayed until after you complete your course. This means that your current symptoms are not related to HIV.
