Question

Does HIV cause stomach pain?

Does HIV cause stomach pain?

Answer

Hi there

If you are HIV positive then it is difficult to answer this Q without a bit more information.

For example:

  • Roughly when were you diagnosed?
  • Are you on ART?
  • What is your CD4? etc

In general stomach pain is not generally related to HIV.

Any symptom that continues to cause pain is a reason to speak to your doctor.

Hello Annita and thanks for getting in touch.

I am very sorry to hear you are unwell.

    Are you living with HIV?

What has changed in the last 4 days?

It’s important that you keep hydrated – you need to drink about 2 litres of water per day to ensure your body can manage and please speak to a doctor who can assess you and prescribe accordingly

More information about testing and transmission can be found here: https://i-base.info/qa/factsheets/hiv-transmission-and-testing
