Hi can Novatrim suspension be given to a baby ho is HIV negative?
Answer
Hi, how are you doing?
Yes baby can still take Novatrim.
Novatrim is used to prevent other infections, not prevent HIV.
It is used when there is some risk of transmission from infections other than HIV that mum is at risk of. It is usually stopped after breastfeeding.
Josh.

Can you take Novatrim for a period of a year if you have HIV
Hello Reitumetse and thank you so much your question.
Congratulations on the new baby. You must be very excited.
Novatrim is an antibiotic given to protect from respiratory infections.
One of the side effects that some times is reported is diarrhoea.
Babies are very sensitive so I wouldn’t like to give you the wrong advice.
The best thing is to ask your doctor about the next steps or at least until the diarrhoea is resolved.
