Q and A

Question

Does Gelusil affect the effectiveness of PEP?

Hi, does Gelusil affect the effectiveness of PEP?

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

There is some risk of interaction if taken together.

Gelusil is an antacid. This means it changes the acid in the stomach. This can cause other medications to not be absorbed properly.

In this case there is some risk of Gelusil reducing how much PEP is absorbed.

The easiest way to avoid this is to take these medications at opposite ends of the day, e.g. PEP in the morning and Gelusil in the evening. Doing this will mean there is no risk of interaction.
