Q and A

Question

Is it too late to start treatment while pregnant?

I’m 6 months pregnant, I was diagnosed in May but haven’t started with my treatment. my CD4 is 567, is it too late to start now?

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

No. It is not too late to start treatment.

Treatment is safe during pregnancy and will help to prevent transmission to baby. This is explained here.

You have a very healthy CD4 count. Do you know what your viral load is?

How are you coping with recently being told you are HIV positive? Do you have a support network at home?

Josh.
