My husband and I have HIV. I’m on meds but he doesn’t want to go to the doctor, he uses my meds and and when it’s all done I will go to get more but we both use the same meds for 1 yr now.
Answer
Hi, how are you doing?
What meds is it that you are both taking? and how long have you both been living with HIV?
Do you and your husband keep up with regular testing e.g., CD4 count and viral load?
As you are sharing your own prescription are you still managing to take your treatment daily?
Do you know why your husband does not want to go to the doctor? As these meds have been prescribed for you it should only be you that takes them. Has your husband ever gone to see a doctor about HIV?
It is important for your husband to be engaged with his own HIV care. Even if you are taking the same treatment, how your body responds can be different and it is importnat that this is checked by a doctor. They will also be able to observe how HIV is affecting you, if at all.
Josh.
