Q and A

Question

Do my results mean I am detectable?

My CD4/CD8 ratio was less than 20 3 months ago and now it’s 30. I have been on triumeq for 5 years and was considered undetectable but now with the new results, does this mean I am detectable?

Answer

Hi, how are you?

Do you mean your viral load was 20 and is now 30.

CD4/CD8 ratio would be a number around 1.

If your viral load is 30 this does not mean you are now detectable. Small increases are normal and change over time. Your medication is still working.

An occasional blip in viral load is normal and does not mean your treatment is no longer working. This can be random or caused by things like recent illness or having a vaccine.

As your viral load is still below 200 you are still considered undetectable and U=U still applies.

Josh.
