Are there benefits for switching from TDF to TAF?

Yes this is a switch that you can do.

The difference between these two combinations being TLD uses Tenofovir DF (TDF) and this new combination uses Tenofovir AF (TAF).

TAF is a newer version of TDF. TAF has a smaller side effect profile and does not have the same risk of causing kidney problems as does TDF.

For this reason TAF is a preferred treatment of choice but due to cost and availability it is not routinely offered as a first choice. If you have the option it is a good switch to make.
