Q and A

Question

Is my test result true?

I tested positive and after a year I got pregnant and I was tested negative for the first trimester. Later I was tested again positive, how truthful is the test results?

Answer

HI, how are you doing.

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Where did you do this test? Was this at home or a clinic? After the first test was it confirmed with a blood test?

And when you tested positive the first time did you start treatment?

Have you had any testing for your viral load/CD4 count?

Josh.

Hello Eamonn and thank you for the question.
I can’t comment on any test, especially one I don’t know which company has developed.

Generally, tests have a C sign which stands for control.
The line should appear next to C when you take the test as it shows that the test was accurate.
No more lines in the test would possibly indicate a negative result.

Again, apologies, I can’t know for sure as I don’t know more information about the company and technical characteristics.

As for the time to know when you might test positive: 4th generation HIV tests (antigen/antibody) will detect 99% of infections at 6 weeks – compared to 95% of infections 4 weeks after exposure.

To know what stands for the HIV test you bought, you need to read the guide inside the box.

Here are some information about HIV testing:

Hi, I used a new hiv rapid test. Just the C line appeared which is negative. Does this mean that the correct amount of blood was used and result is negative. This is 6 months after possible exposure.

“I’m really anxious about this matter. I haven’t been able to get a good sleep in days. Please help me out.”

Approximately 7 weeks after I’ve had a heterosexual sex with a woman I met through a friend.

I went into to my local hospital and do a HIV COMBO rapid test using Determine HIV-1/2 Ag/Ab Combo by Abbott.

    And the results were:
    The Control line did appear.
    5 minutes later
A “colorless line” emerges from the observation windows of Ag and Ab.

The line is neither red nor pink.
If you look closer, it looks like two grooves.

Is this indicating result negative or positive?

Hi Dragon, your results are conclusive. You do not have HIV. You do not require any further tests.
