Q and A

Question

My viral load is 350 after 4 months…

I have been taking my ARVs for 4 months now but my viral load is still low at 350….

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

What is the name of the ARVs you are taking? and what was your viral load when you started?

How is your CD4 count doing?

A viral load of 350 means your treatment is working and HIV is being suppressed. A low viral load is good. It means that HIV is less active in the body. When HIV is less active, it is unable to damage CD4 cells and allows them to recover.

Are you taking your treatment well e.g., at the same time each day?

350 shows your treatment is working but it can be possible to suppress this further. Ideally it is best to try and get viral load below 200. This is done with making sure treatment is taken at the same time each day to ensure it is working as well as it can.

Were you healthy the day you had your viral load test? or had you had a recent infection/illness?

Josh.
