Question
Is there an interaction between Acriptega and Accutane?
10 January 2024. Related: All topics, Drug interactions, Newly diagnosed.
Good Day,
In October 2023 I was diagnosed as HIV positive with a CD4 count of 100 and viral load of 1.7m. I was immediately placed on Acriptega and Purbac double strength. A week before my diagnosis I had started developing very bad face acne. Subsequent to starting ARTs my dermatologist put me on Acnetane (now almost two months). My challenge is that my face acne pops up when I think a particular area has healed. I also developed very itchy rash on my neck and shoulders after the dermatologist visit. This also spread to both the inside and outside of my ear. Is it fine to take Acnetane and my treatment at the same time or could the combination be the cause of the flaming itchiness I’m going through? Should I be patient and wait for both treatments to start taking effect? After testing a few OTC ointments (dermatologist on holiday) I found that a spray of ionic colloidal silver to the affected areas gave me such relief.
Thank you for your website and valuable information provided.
Answer
Hi, how are you doing?
I am sorry to hear about the problems you have been having with your skin. It’s great that you are able to access a dermatologist.
There are no interactions between Acriptega and Accutane. It is okay to be taking them together. The combination is not causing these flares or itchiness that you are experiencing.
Acriptega will start to work as soon as you begin taking it whereas Accutane can take 2-3 months before you start seeing improvements.
There is no reason to stop the ionic colloidal silver if this is bringing you relief. This can be used while waiting for the Accutane to work.
Josh.
