I have not been having food with PEP…

I am taking Argiodin (Emtricitabine and Tenofovir) with Isentress as PEP. The doctor told me to take the morning doses with food, however I couldn’t always eat before taking them. Will that affect the effectiveness of PEP?

Hi, how are you doing?

None of the three medications that have been used in your combination of PEP (emtrictabine, tenofovir and isentress) is required to be taken with food.

These medications can be taken with or without food and means food will have no impact on how effective this course of treatment is.
