Does a non-reactive test after 6 months mean I am HIV negative?

25 March 2008. Related: All topics, HIV transmission.

i had sexual exposure in august 2007. i went for antibody test at the end of three month and the result was non-reactive.

i went for antibody test at the end of six month and the result was non-reactive again.

After the incident in august2007 i have not involved myself in any risky behaviour .
is this result reliable enough to consider myself hiv negative. do i need further testing?

Non-reactive 6 months after exposure means that you are HIV negative.

You do not need another test.

    Hi, how are you? Is this with the same partner? Each time you have sex with someone and you are unsure of your status there is a risk of exposure. If you are not using a condom or PrEP there is a the potential for transmission. Is there a reason you are having unprotected sex?     Hi I have done unprotected sex for so many times and after 2 years I have tested non reactive for hiv tridot test. I’m safe or not?

    Hi Sunilsir, as you have tested negative so long after any exposure you do not need to worry. Your doctor is correct and your results are conclusive. You are HIV negative.

    Hi I had unprotected sex for many times and after 2 years I had done hiv tridot test it was non reactive again after 1 year I had tested for hiv tridot test it was non reactive and my doctor told me that their is no need to worry because the test is negative. Am I safe ?

    Hi Sohan, after 2 years any test you take will be conclusive. As your tridot test has tested negative, you do not have HIV. Your doctor is right, there is nothing to worry about.

    hey sir, i had a sex with women who status is unknown but she lives in north africa, i had hiv4th generation test at 45,75,90 days, and i had hiv rapid test at 110,120,144, 180 days and all were negative
    i’m scared about hiv2 as it’s mainly in africa, should i trust my 6month rapid test and move on ? it’s been 7 month and i can’t live a day without thinking about this disease, and the women told me she is alright and she doesn’t have hiv but i am terrified
