I am gaining weight, what slimming pills can I take?

I’m 31 years old and HIV positive. I have a problem of gaining weight every week and my breasts are getting bigger and bigger. Can I take slimming tablets while on my HIV drugs? I am taking Stocrin (efavirenz), Viread (tenofovir) and 3TC (lamivudine)

If you are gaining weight around your breasts and tummy then it could be a side effect of your medication called lipodystrophy. For more information about lipodystrophy you should follow this link to find out more.
Slimming tablets will not reduce this weight change. You should talk to your doctor about changing your medication to reduce these side effects.
Hi Linda, thanks. The best thing is to speak with your doctor or clinic about how you feel. I can’t comment on slimming pill without knowing more about what you are referring to. Supplements that advertise weight loss are usually not genuine – they are a scam. It would be better to get good advice from your doctor about making small changes to your life that move to a balanced diet and being more active.

Hi Dumi, what is the name of the ARVs you are taking? and have you noticed changes with your belly fat since starting treatment?
I recently used arv’s also wanna try to loose belly fat,are there any chances for me to loose and it cannot disturb my treatment?
