I am gaining weight, what slimming pills can I take?

I’m 31 years old and HIV positive. I have a problem of gaining weight every week and my breasts are getting bigger and bigger. Can I take slimming tablets while on my HIV drugs? I am taking Stocrin (efavirenz), Viread (tenofovir) and 3TC (lamivudine)

If you are gaining weight around your breasts and tummy then it could be a side effect of your medication called lipodystrophy. For more information about lipodystrophy you should follow this link to find out more.
Slimming tablets will not reduce this weight change. You should talk to your doctor about changing your medication to reduce these side effects.

Hi am Hiv possitive and on arvs . Have been using the. Closemeyer Slimming tea for the past three months. Now I feel so week and my joints are sore. Can the tea be the cause of that?

If you’ve gained a lot of weight you should talk to your doctor about it. You can ask to change ARVs if it’s a side effect. But also you can ask to talk to a dietitian who can help with advice on diet and exercise.

It’s a good idea to talk to the doctor about any diet that means your diet is not balanced. What HIV meds (ART) are you taking? You can talk to the doctor and ask if this could be a side effect of these meds. But having a balanced diet and taking exercise can help reduce weight.
