Q and A

Question

When should I start treatment?

When do I start treatment my doctor says now but I have just found out I am HIV positive and my CD4 count is 280?

Thanks

Answer

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. Finding out you have HIV is never easy and reading this section of our website might help you.

It is recommended that people start treatment when their CD4 counts are 350 or below. This means you do need to start thinking about treatment now. For more information you should read our guidebook ‘Introduction to Combination Therapy’.
