Hello,
I found out I have HIV and hep C at the same time which was a massive shock to me but then as I started to lets say get on with my life I remembered about the insurance for my mortgage and what it said before I signed if I was positive for HIV or hep C. Of course at the time I wasn’t aware of these fact since I never had any tests . So the question is am I breaking the law in still having these policies and were do I go from here since with HIV you can get insurance but at a very high premium but since I’m in the not so happy category of co-infection not even HIV insurers will touch me where do I turn to?
Thanks for your help with this.
Answer
Thank you for your qeustion.
Did you get your mortgage/insurance a long time ago? It is very rare for insurers to ask about your HIV status today because ARVs mean that people can have a near normal life expectancy. If you did not know about your status when you took the policy then you have nothing to worry about.
If you are looking for insurance companies that specialise in HIV insurance, life assurance and mortgages for positive people then this company will do all that.
Thanks for letting us know. If you find any good alternatives please let us know so that we can pass on the message to others in the same situation. Many thanks
Charlie
