Q and A

Question

Can I take poppers with Atripla?

I have been diagnosed since February 2011, CD4 on my first blood test was 287, three months later 251, VL 29,000. I started treatment right away and am on Combivir and Sustiva. I would like to ask, is it ok to do poppers when you’re on treatment and do poppers have any interactions with the CD4 count and viral load?

Answer

Thank you for your question.

You should have no problems taking poppers with Combivir and Sustiva. If you change your medications to include protease inhibitors then you should be aware of interactions.

Poppers should not affect your CD4 count or viral load. Please follow this link for more information.

Flu is a virus and antibiotics will not help. Perhaps speak to a doctor about your symptoms.

You can take Atripla can be taken with most antibiotics, but you are right to check.
