Am HIV Poz and though in the US I enjoy a generous medical insurance policy, covering me in all states including Puerto Rico, I would like to know how if I can get HIV meds in Spain? I read their are restrictions on importing drugs into the country, however, I have friends in Germany and France and don’t mind going there to pick up my drugs. Any advice?
Answer
Try contacting gTt in Barcelona – a great treatment activist group would should be able to help.

Hi Agbadu,
I’m not a qualified doctor so I can’t tell you what the the cause of this is. Do however let us know how things go.
Hi Lisa,
Thanks a lot and much grateful for your replies. i have appointment next week which i believe will start treatment.
i still have chest pains and burns most times, can this be a problem from the heart or lungs?
Hi Agbadu,
Diarrhea can be due to a lot of things. It is though something that is usually very easy to treat. If you’re suffering from this, you should talk to a doctor.Chest burns, aren’t a sign of advanced HIV. Please let us know how you get on.
Hi Lisa,
Thanks a lot,i will change my hospital as soon as possible.
please if u lose 10% of your weight without diarhoea can this be the advance of hiv?
Is chest burns also symptons on the advanced stage of the disease?
Hi Agbadu,
In countries in Sub Saharan Africa its very common that people start ARVS before they get their CD4 count results. However, in Europe, resistance tests are usually conducted. These are done so as to see what meds people should take.
It sounds like your hospital don’t really know what they’re doing. So yes, if you can change, then you should.
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for your reply always,i really do appreciate.
Please without knowing the CD4 results and Viral Load counts can one be put on ARV’s first?
Its 2 months now, have been given appoinments on blood tests and havent been offered any drug. They told me if i feel unwell i should go to the Emergency but i was there 3 days ago complaining of body pains and joints, they took my blood for quick test again for and when the results came,+ve was indicated again but i was told to take pain killer.
Am now trying to move to another city to change my hospital.
Hi Agbadu,
43 days is far to long to have to wait for your CD4 results. Also you should have been offered ARVs. It does sound like the quality of care that you’re getting isn’t very high. Therefore, if its possible you should do and see another doctor.
Your CD4 count could go down, however it may also stay as it is. Ideally you need to know what it is.
No i still havent start meds yet
