I am taking PEP, can I have uprotected sex?

I’ve been taking lamzid for 5 days now and I want to find out how this will
affect my pregnant partner when we have unprotected sex?
I am taking lamzid because I slept with someone without a condom and I felt
very unsafe so I went to the doctor within 72 hours and he prescribed lamzid for me.
My pregnant partner is only 7weeks pregnant will this harm our baby?
Answer
There is no data on whether PEP can harm the unborn baby. However, unprotected sex whilst you are taking PEP is not recommended. This is because you don’t know your status and you could infect your partner. That is why it is important to wait until you finish the course and have done the follow-up confirmatory test.

Yes, it can work. PEP needs to be taken as soon after exposure as possible. This is preferably within hours rather than days. Most guidelines have a cut off for PEP of 48 hours after exposure.
Even though in the UK you can get PEP for up to 72 hours it is much less likely to work when it is used this late. Please see this link for more information.

Its very unlikely that you’ll be at risk. However you’re going to need to test.
Am on pep and in four days i will be completing the doze but i had unprotected sex, will i be at risk

After finishing PEP you have to wait for another 28 days to test to see if it has worked. But if you’ve finished the PEP and you think you’ve been at risk of HIV again you can ask at the clinic. Tell them what happened and ask if you need another course. Here’s info about both PrEP and PEP. After you’ve had your negative result confirmed you can ask if PrEP is available for you in future.

It’s not possible for anyone to say at this point if you’re going to be OK or not, this is why its important to take the PEP as prescribed and to test once the course is finished. As to whether you tell your family about what has happened or not only you can make that decision.
been dating with this guy for a few months and we happen to meet and hang out but he got drunk and no guest house allowed him to sleep alone in the inns so I spent a night with him and at around 4am , he started the issue of sex of which I was resistant till he managed his way in but in the process of like one minute I pushed him off and I went to the showers then early in the morning I forced him to the hospital which he refused then I bought the strips and we both checked and his was positive and mine mild let’s say invalid check ,so I rushed to a big hospital of which my results turned negative in the whole course of the day in different hospitals so in the evening I forced him to hospital of which his results turned positive so the doc adavised me to start pep of which am on now but it makes me weak,I started pep before 24 hours ,so my question is will my results turn out bad or good and am really scared and my doc advised me not to tell my family till the 30days are over to confirm what will come out after the check, am not used to keep important issues from my family what do I do

Hi I’m really scared I need your help I had sex with the guy I don’t know 4 days ago and the condom broke but he didn’t come inside me and I went to the doctor he prescribed aspen lamzid and now 4 days after the incident I had sex again with a guy and I suspect his hiv positive the condom broke again and he came inside me, it was my second day taking lamzid now I’m really scared if lamzid is gonna work or not, I didn’t stop taking it I’m gonna finish the course, can you please tell me if these tablets are still going to work
