Question
Do you think my antidepressant has affected my results?
28 February 2009. Related: All topics, HIV testing, HIV transmission.
Hi, thanks for all your help answering my previous questions. I had a HIV test 9 months after possible exposure, which came back negative. At the time I was taking anti-depressant medication. Recently I read an article on the NHS website saying that anti-depressant medication could delay seroconversion. Do you think there is any chance my result was a false negative because of the medication I was taking? Thanks again
Answer
No, after nine months the test is conclusive. We, however, advise everybody with an active sexual life to get tested regularly-say every 6 months.
All the best.
