Why have I been given Tribuss – is this an ARV?

I started taking Tribuss about two weeks ago.
I’d like to know what are the side effects of this medication and what is the difference between them and ARVs.
I was shocked when my doctor prescribed me with Tribuss instead of ARVs which I’m familiar with when people are HIV+?

Thanks for your email. How are you doing?
Tribuss is a pill that contains three HIV drugs (ARVs) – efavirenz, FTC and tenofovir DF.
It is one of the generic versions of the brand-name drug Atripla. For a picture of Tribuss see this link.
So your doctor has prescribed you ARVs, and this pill is very effective at treating HIV.
Side effects mainly related to the efavirenz. These include mood changes, sleep problems, vivid dreams (sometimes nightmares). Luckily, for most people, these usually get easier within the first few weeks. If not though, please talk to your doctor about different choices.

Hi my doctor put me on Tribuss for 30days cause I didn’t know the other person’s status should I return to continue with the medication or isn’t it necessary?

Amoxy 500 looks like it amoxicillin. It’s an antibotic used to treat bacterial infections. It’s not an ARV.

We are not doctors at i-Base. However, we do give HIV treatment information to people who are HIV positive.
The good news is that people who are on HIV treatment, like Tribuss, cannot pass HIV to someone else, even if they don’t use condoms. But it’s important that the viral load blood test is undetectable to bring this about. Tribuss is one of many drugs that can get this blood test result to undetectable.

Please could you discuss this with your girlfriend? If she is taking D100, you can see from the above that this can be a safe and effective treatment for HIV.
However, if this is the case, D100 can reduce risk of HIV transmission to zero, even if you don’t use condoms. Please see Undetectable = Untransmittable.

Tribuss and Trenvir are the same meds. Please see this link. They have different names because they are made by different drug companies.
So you shouldn’t get different side effects.
