Can I use Senokot with my ARVs?

Is it ok to take Senokot tablets (laxative) whilst taking kaletra and truvada?
I am always bloated as I now hardly ever use the toilet.
I am planning on using laxatives as I do not like the weight gain.
Is Senokot fine to use with my medication? Is there an interaction between the medication and Senokot?

Thanks for your email. There are no interactions expected between Senokot and your ARVs so it is fine to use these together.
Laxatives are not a good way to try to loose weight.
Please discuss this with your doctor so that they can help.

Is Mist Alba the magnesium supplement used for mild constipation? Please talk to your doctor about any supplements you take.
Some magnesium supplements can interact with some HIV meds. So it’s a good idea for you to talk to your doctor first.
What HIV meds are you taking? And do you have access to your CD4 count and viral load results? Please let us know.

Mist Alba contains magnesium sulphate. What ARVs are you taking? Some ARVs can interact with magnesium supplements. But taking it early in the morning and at least 6 hours before your ARVs should be fine.
It’s a good idea to talk to your doctor about any other meds or supplements you are taking. That way you can check which meds will interact with your particular ARVs.
Can I take Must alba (laxative) early in the morning while I take ARV if which I take my meds at night between 9/10 due to my busy schedule

Hi Roy, thanks for the reply, i’m taking TRIVENZ and it consists of Efavirenz (600mg), Emtricitabine (200mg) and Tenofovir disopoxil fumarate (300mg).
Hi Snakes, Mist Alba is a laxative containing magnesium. However, it depends on what ARVs you’re taking. For example, there is a caution for dolutegravir and some supplements containing calcium, magnesium or aluminium. It’s advised to separate the dolutegravir dose by at least 4 hours. But you can check with your doctor about your ARVs and magnesium.
