I am HIV positive and my partner is negative and we are planning too have a child what can we do so that i can get pregnant?

Answer

Hi,

It is great that you are thinking about having a child. Today many couples like yours do this. If you are not already on treatment you would start now. After a couple of months of this there is very little risk of your partner becoming positive. The risk of transmission is close to zero.

You would then conceive by having sex without a condom. Once you are pregnant your treatment will prevent your child becoming positive.
