Q and A

Question

What is HIV risk when trying for a baby?

Can your partner be infected during the period of trying a baby – if one is hiv positive and one is hiv negitive.

Answer

Hi

There are lots of couples where one partner is positive and the other is negative.

The safest way to try for a baby is for the positive person to be on treatment with an undetectable viral load.

So long as viral load is undetectable, the risk of HIV transmission is close to zero.
