If your CD4 count is 300, do you have to start treatment immediately?

In general, HIV treatment (ART) is now recommended at any CD4 count.

So a CD4 count of 300 is definitely a reason to start.

The urgency for needing treatment means being careful with words like “immediately”.

Although it would be good to be on treatment now, there is little difference between when in the next few weeks that you start.

If you need a little time to consider your choices this is okay too. But then starting is recommended in all guidelines.
