Question

How do I switch the time of my treatment?

I was told to swap the time of my HIV meds which I take at night and TB med which I take in the morning but I don’t know how to switch

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

Have you now been told to take your HIV meds in the morning and Tb meds in the evening?

You can do this switch in one day.

On the day you switch, take your HIV meds in the morning and Tb treatment in the evening at the times you want to continue taking your treatment.

On this one occasion it will be okay to be early with your HIV treatment and late with your Tb treatment. It is more beneficial to make the switch easier and to then continue with regular times rather than trying to stagger the time changes.

Hello Mbali and thanks for getting in touch.

It largely depends on what kind of restrictions your medication have.

Usually TB medication are taken in the morning with empty stomach.

And ARVs might be able to take any time or is recommended to take at night.

Either check the instructions on the boxes or speak to a pharmacist who can help clarify this for you.

I take MY ARVS at 21h30. If so when should I take TB medication?
