Will missing a dose of Dovato cause HIV drug resistance?

I am on Dovato treatment for 5 years and my treatment ok so far. viral load is undetectable.

I had no problem so far and never miss any dose.

However I missed one dose yesterday (that is 24 hours) and now I’m feeling a little anxious right now. I wonder if resistance will develop?

Please don’t worry about this.

It sounds like you have been really careful for a long time.

This will be why your viral load has been undetectable for so long.

Missing an odd dose will not have any affect on your viral load.

Modern HIV combinations like Dovato (dolutegravir + lamivudine) are strong enough to cover occasional missed doses.

Drug resistance is more of a risk if you are missing doses every week.
