Hi there – I see information about long-acting cabotegravir and other injectable HIV meds. Will there be longer acting versions fo other drugs like Atripla and raltagravir?
Answer
Hi there
Thanks for these questions.
There is a lot of research into longer-acting HIV meds, for example, where injections might only be needed every 2, 3, 4 or 6 months.
Longer-acting version of oral meds also include once-weekly oral combinations.
These are generally for new drugs but this does include research into a 4-monthly cabotegravir injection (which currently needs to be taken every two months.
I haven’t heard about research into long-acting Atripla or raltegravir.
