Q and A

Question

How can I reduce the transmission rate to my negative partner?

Before being diagnosed HIV positive, my partner and I had unsafe sex. He was diagnosed HIV negative. Its been more than 6 months, since I started my treatment and I’m undetectable now. Does this increases the chance of transmission?

Answer

I’m very happy to hear that your treatment is working for you.  Your viral load is undetectable at the moment, which reduces the rate of transmission by 96%.

There are many couples who are in the similar situation as you and your partner.  For sero different couples (where one partner is positive and the other is negative), you both need to understand that there are a few factors that you both need to know about HIV transmission. Please take a look at this link for more information on transmision.
