Q and A

Question

What are the chances?

What are my risk of infection if I was given a handjob by an HIV+ woman using her saliva as lubricant? Would a negative Combo 4th Gen antigen and antibody test at 4 weeks be assuring of non-infection?

Answer

The risk is negligible, but exists. The test results should be taken seriously. We, however, advise everybody with an active sexual life to get tested regularly, say every six months.

Why is there a risk from handjob? I though handjob safe sex.

Sorry for any confusion. Negative four weeks after exposure with a 4th generation test means you are HIV-negative.

What do you mean by “test result should be taken seriously?”
Is the result reliable or not given the exposure and time of test taken?
